Intro
Over time, your goals and metrics may need to be updated with new names, descriptions, completion dates, or owners. This article describes how to update your goals and metrics to reflect progress.
Updating Goal Status and Progress
In the Personal, Teams, or Company tabs, you can view the summary and progress of each goal.
Users can get a general sense of their progress by viewing the Overall Status and Average Progress. These indicators are found at the top of the Personal, Teams, or Company pages.
Overall Status averages the statuses of all goals on the page (On Target, Needs Attention, At Risk).
In the example below, the user has two personal goals – a goal that’s On Track and another that’s At Risk for an average status of Needs Attention.
Average Progress is the average completion level of every metric in your goals. The more metrics a goal has, the more influence it will have on the Average Progress percentage.
In the example below, the user has one metric with 50% completion, and another metric with 0% completion for an Average Progress of 25%.
In addition to the Overall Status and and Average Progress, colored icons will indicate how individual goals and metrics are performing.
Goals will have two icon types to measure progress:
- A round status icon
- Colored metric completion dots.
These statuses are set by the owner. They reflect whether the goal or metric is currently On Track, Needs Attention, or is At Risk.
Please refer to the key below:

Updating Progress of Metrics
Metrics can be updated either automatically with a linked Domo Card, or manually with percentages and custom values.
Card-Based Metrics
The following describes how metrics are updated when linked to a Domo Card:
1. Select the Goal you wish to view. Scroll down to its Metrics.
2. Select the metric you wish to view. At the bottom of the page is the Linked Card. Here, you can see how the the progress of the metric is directly affected by the Card's data.
Percentage-Based Metrics
If your manual metric is percentage-based, you can adjust progress by sliding the blue progress slider across the scale to the desired percentage. Below, you can see that the user has met 18% of their goal.
As you manually update the progress over time, the percentage scale will match your growth.
